Chapter 1: Three questions

'Why the hell Grendels?' He jumped over some strange looking gadget without slowing down. The hall of steps could be heard - and the steps were coming closer. Never turn and look how close pursuers are. That's a silly mistake and often also the last one. Then he saw a door to the right. It wasn't wide - in fact it was pretty narrow - but wide enough for Douglas to get through. Without wasting a second he jumped through it.

'Just in time.' he thought after realising they were only about five seconds behind him. The Grendels with their large bodies had no chance to fit into the door. 'Well, this seems to be a passage. A tunnel rather than a passage.' He walked a few more steps but the tunnel seemed to be quite long. No end could be seen. 'I can explore this later. Time to think.

First of all WHERE AM I? No, that's second. More important WHAT CHASED ME? Yep, that's a good one to start. Looked like Grendels - but that's impossible. Bits and bytes don't jump out of computer games and start chasing me. Robots? I can't answer this one at the moment - let's try another one. WHERE AM I? I don't know. Next. WHAT HAPPENED? Let's think. The last normal thing I remember is going to bed. Starting to sleep. Next I wake up, feel a warm wind, recognize it's actually the breath of a Gr... what-ever-it-is, ram my fists where I think the stomach of this monster is and run for life, find a door and here I am. Life's really a mess. The question is WHAT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS SLEEPING?'

Douglas took out a pen and searched for a piece of paper. Finally finding a reminder of his book store he mumbled "Whatever happened I must have had enough time to dress. That's interesting..." Then he wrote a To Do list:

1. What happened? 2. Where am I? 3. What was chasing me?
"That's much better." After that he added:
4. Get food
