Deserted

At first there was a creaming chaos of sand and wind. It filled everything and drowned out any hope of ending. It was called Seh, the eternal turmoil.

A great spherical shell encapsulated the storms, protecting it form the infinite darkness beyond.
And millennia passed.

But, as all things come to pass, the wind softened and withdrew. Beneath the tormented blowing of the Great Wind Sudé in the sky, the grey shifting sands of Nuee finally settled.

Deep in the sand, cool and dry, hard pressure from  sand miles deep. Tahuib was born, hard and stiff, living yet cold. Bloodless and dry. Many limbed he was with many stout legs and strong arms. Eyeless and blind he was, but with a fantastic sense of hearing.  His many limbs circled his body and solid head.

He spent months digging his way to the surface of the sands of Nuee, that he considered both his home and mother. Standing on the surface he began to stamp and compress the sands, making it solid and firm to walk upon. Looking up at last, he sensed Sudé and his anger.
With wrath in his stormy heart he bore upon Tahuib who sat patiently, unaware of danger. For Sudé hated anything solid and resilient to his wind, wanting to wear them down into dust.

Shocked, Tahuib dug back into the sand, listening to the roaring as the wind lifted the sand from above him. Deeper he dag until he felt safe. Here he formulated a plan. He tore off one of his own legs, and with a rubbing and chipping carved a great knife from it. He named it Ah-Nist the stony blade.

Awaiting for Sudé's temper to cool, he gradually sneaked his way back to the surface. And sat awaiting the sound of his approach. At the last possible moment he swung up with his sword, and sliced him in two.

Tahuib was joyful as they thought he had won the battle. Sudé was indeed killed, but from one half of his body was born NÎno, the dry  hot wind. From the other half was born his twin brother Stéu, the moist cold wind.
Together they were full of wrath and hatred for their father's murderer and drove him back into the sand.

-------

Tahuib hid in the sands for a while, terrified by the sounds stormy sands above. Knowing his blade wasa useless against his foe, he devised a new plan. We bored to the surface, bawling with false agony, planning to fake his own death.

"Oh fierce son of Sudé, you have truly avenged your father! Forgive me before I die and rule in his place"

The brothers were pleased , but confused by his last words. At last Stéu spoke, saying.

"How proud I am of this kill. It must have been my own icy blast that killed him"

NÎno grew angry, knowing it must have been his own fiery breath that slew Tahuib. So the throne must be his own. Their arguments grew into a fight and they bit at each other in an increasingly violent storm.

-------

Tahuib took advantage of the storm to hide himself from view in the sands. After a while the fight stopped, as both brothers were of equal strength, neither could get the upper hand.

The brothers decided to judge their worthiness to rule by who could make the most beautiful object. NÎno took great handfuls of the sand and heated it with his breath until it was so hot it burst into flames, this flaming molten ball he moulded into a perfect sphere with a halo of fire. He named it Sun.

Stéu took some sand and froze it with all his strength until it became solid, then carved it into a beautiful sphere with rounded dimples decorating it. He named it moon.

Both looked at the other's jewels and were jealous of the beauty they had created. A new fight broke out and they cast their creations together. The moon fell down broken and charred, snow scattered over the earth. The cold wind knew his defeat and fled west. The sun then ruled proudly in the east.

Here the sands melted and ran as molten lava and sands became red arid deserts. He crafted molten serpents to rule as subjects.

-------

At the same time the Lausii came into existence int he snow wastes to the weast. They were gargantuan, amorphous beasts of snow. Varied in size and temperament, but all hated anything with warm body temperatures. They were generally low in intelligence so never developed any languages or society.

Feeling sympathy for his terrible burns. Tahuib healed the moon, using snow to cool the burning wounds inflicted by the Sun. Despite his best efforts he remained forever blackened on one side, but was free from pain. In gratitude, the Moon crafted five eyes for him from his flesh and gave them to him as a gift. He then promised to keep his existence secret from the fiery ones. His father Stéu was grateful when he heard what he had done for his son, and made his peace with Tahuib.

Tahuib took his knife and carved great beings from the compacted ice that lay beneath the moon. The cool wind Stéu breathed life into each one. They became known as the Thigori, the ice giants. Ousie was the eldest and largest and was their first ruler.

Fragments:

The sun wears a red cloak at night, which can be seen at dawn and sunset. During the day it wears a blue cape, which blocks out the darkness and the planets and stars.

many ice people killed by melting by the first ride of the sun

The Moon stole to the east, and enchanted one of the lava springs. From it gushed the first iron. From this he forged immensely strong chains.
The chains were used to bind the Sun to the wind. The wind tossed and turned the Sun about the sky, as the sun burned the wind.

Cold sand specks became the stars, small stones and grit became the larger stars.

Sand demons

Later these eyes became the planets in heaven.

Snow melts, mixes with sand to form mud. From this the first living things were sculpted.

As the world became warmer, the Lausii hid up the mountains, and became known as avalanches. The ice giants retreated west and south to the colder plains.

Eventually joint ruling formed, with sun and moon taking it in turns to rule.
