Food, Plants and Animals
I've had problems with compiling some of my
sprites using BobCob, sometimes it forgets to make the black background transparent, but
Creatures Editor seems to do the job well.
Despite this, I have found BobCob to be a
fantastic package with many useful tools.
Picture | Cob | Date | Description |
Fly Agaric | February 2022 | A simple set of cobs based on David Kiefer's New Plants cobs, they are installed in the hand so you can plant it where you like. When clicked on they drop cuttings. Creature can eat the cuttings, or the plant itself. It will grow back after harvesting. As well as providing starch, then eaten they provide: Fly Agaric - makes creatures drunk and feverish Celery - increases hunger, pain and NFP (my first weed) Chinese Lantern - some coldness & pain, lots of cough medicine Blueberry - provide a few antibodies. Poppy - pain relief, pleasure and sex drive decrease *IMPORTANT* use the most recent nupl sprite

Dancing Alcoholic Still Alteration | June 2018 | I have updated Malkin's Still alteration so it vends both types of alcohol, rather than having to choose.
Training Plant v2 | May 2018 | This
plant is designed to encourage creatures to eat herbs. I removed the
speech scripts in it to make it work properly. Original by Markham
Caroll. *WARNING* Incompatible with Island Food
Jungle Banana Plant This norn is Vickey, mother of Dawn | May 2018 | This
cob will add a Banana Plant to the east end of the jungle by the lift.
It will create up to five bananas and will replenish itself when they are
eaten. The bananas are a bit of an aphrodisiac and add 20 to the eater's Sex Drive.
Tribble Trouble | May 2018 | They will eat you out of house and home, and multiply and spread like a tsunami of cuteness. Be warned!
Red and Green Apple Trees | December 2010 |
Based upon sprites created by Jan Martin this cob places five trees in the area between the house and the submarine docking bay. Each grows apples for your creatures to eat.
- | The Undercanopy v2.1 |
December 2010 |
Adds a variety of
life to the jungle area and includes the following: The Fig Tree & Wasp Nest by Steve Dismukes Spider Web by Stefan Kuske Yellow Idae by Dr §mile Cave Flies by Cyberlife The Pear Tree by Daniel Smallman Blue Fruit Tree and Fern by me. Small update removes the Pianola and Dukebox scripts that snook in from the Cave Flies cob. |
Allotment Potatoes | August 2008 |
Plants six potato plants in the garden, each producing around five potatoes each, and replenish them when eaten. Uses images based on Freya's sprites.
The Undercanopy | August 2008 |
Fills the jungle with
various trees and plants. Steve Dismukes' Fig Tree Daniel Smallman's Pear Tree My Blue Fruit tree and Fern I moved the Blue Fruit Tree right slightly to make room for the Fig Tree. |
|
Lycopersicum | August 2008 |
Near identical scripting to
Acornium gives us the C2 tomato plant in all its multiplying glory. Needs some repair to slow the plant death. |
|
Jungle Bugs | August 2008 |
A combination of Steve Dismuke's Wasps, Stefan Kuske's Spider, Dr §mile's Yellow Idae and Cyberlife's Caveflies. A quicker way to fill the jungle with creepy crawlies.
Butterfly Pack | August 2008 |
A combination of Freya's
Scarlet Butterflies, my Heliotrope Butterflies and Cyberlife's Cloud Butterflies, in one
easy to use cob. If you want extra butterflies, just add the cob again. |
|
Acornium Plant | August 2008 |
The Acornium plant, has a
clever system to make sure their seeds are spread. They only germinate after they have been carried and dropped. |
|
If
a bit is taken from the nut's flesh, it exudes a disgusting tasting
substance to try and prevent the creature eating any more of it, and
eventually drops it, where it will be ignored. Whether it has been bitten or not, soon after being dropped it germinates and quickly grows to adulthood and asexually produces two more nuts, the adult plant then withers away, thus the cycle is complete. The Acornium is also called the balancing fruit for its trick of leaving it's nuts resting on their ends and emitting a tasty odour.
Heliotrope Butterflies | August 2008 |
Following in the footsteps of Freya's Scarlet Butterfly, I have also created a new cob using the Cloud Butterfly scripts and C2 sprites. Easy but satisfying. :-)
Goldfish v1.1 |
August 2008 |
Adds thirteen salt-water goldfish to the ocean, they come in four colours that swim at different speeds. Regular goldfish are the slowest, then Silver ones, then dark ones, finally speedy bronzes.
They swim about and are interesting to watch, don't
worry they are harmless to other aquatic citizens and will look after themselves. Fixed in Dec 2010.
Bees and Hives Update 2 |
Sept 2005 |
First after a long time with
no playing C1, this is an update of the update. Specifically it restricts the lifespan of
the bees and also limits the number of free roaming workers to 12. Lastly it swaps the push and pull responses. Now "push" lets the norn eat honey from the hive and "pull" causes an angry bee to be released |
|
Fern | August 2004 |
Using sprites
filched from C2 created this fern that bears many colour-changing fruit. |
|
New Branch Of Apples | January 2004 |
This cob allows the Juicy Apples to grow on the right hand side of the grendel tree, reachable from the new Rope Bridge. Uses Darcie's sprites.
Banana Tree | January 2004 |
Allows the tree by the well to bear fruit. As with all my plant cobs, the fruit will replenish themselves over time. The sprites and basic idea are by Jeff D.
Bridge Flowers v1.1 | January 2004 |
A lovely
scattering of edible blossoms on the bridge. If you are not satisfied with the arrangement of plants, just reinstall the cob and the plants will be re-scattered and the ratio of the flower types will be different each time. |
|
Thanks go to: Helen for her Blue Flower sprites, Dr§mile for the Mini Gentian, J. Martin for the Mint and to Spirit for the Sunny Flowers. Also to the creator of the pink flowers.
June 2003 March 2021 |
Allows the Grendel Tree to put
forth blossom and produce nice tasty apples for your creatures' consumption. Sprites based
on an older cob by Darcie. Goes well with The Platform that allows
easier access to its lower fruits. Version 2 adds the New Branch Apples, reduces the number of apples and the speed of their growth. |
||
New Coconuts | June 2003 |
When Cyberlife created the coconuts they did not replenish themselves when eaten, this new version fixes that, and is altered in a few other ways as well.
Island Food v1
|
June 2003 February 2002 |
Parsnips, an apple tree, a
strawberry patch, the Coconut Palm and mushrooms for the island. All cobs tweaked to fix minor problems and things that I didn't like. Some sprites and cobs have been fused together for ease. Thanks go to Cyberlife, Darcie and Brood for their cobs. Has been superseded by a second version which is classified as a room as it opens the ocean tunnel. t also adds a basket lift and th Bilumea plant by Jessica |
|
As
you can see in the picture below, there is a lot of food available in
all rooms, and the island can support many creatures. Also visible in
the picture is The Rope Bridge, Tulip and Frost Grendels.
Blue Fruit Tree | June 2003 |
Uses the blue fruit sprites
from the Terra Nornia 5-in-1 Tree, the sprite for the tree itself is modified from the
Pear Tree by Daniel Smallman. A nice little tree to add some colourful fruit to your jungle. |
|
June 2003 |
My version of Grubs, edible wormy things crawl around, multiplying.
Carrot Variety Pack v1.1 Version 2 |
June 2003 March 2021 |
A fusion of five carrot patch
cobs: This cob includes the Extra Carrot Patch cob by Freya. |
|
t also contains four of my cobs: The Big Carrot Patch, Muddy Swamp carrots, Hunny Carrots, and Darkling Cave carrots. v1.1 fixes the infamous "stim writ norn" bug, which now points to "from" v2.0 replaces my Big Carrot Patch with Jessica's Updated C1 Carrot Patch, I also reduced number of carrots per patch
Updated Oven |
June 2003 |
I have compressed the five
cobs used by the Oven cob (created by Freya) to just two. I have also updated the remover so it can also remove the rooms that the cob creates. |
|
June 2003 |
An updated version of the
Apple Tree in Brood's Island Garden. This version is smaller, with edited sprites and apples that grow back more realistically. |
||
June 2003 |
Parsnips are relatives of the carrot and grow in the sandy soil of the desert island. Sprites have been shaded to give them a 3D appearance.
June 2003 |
An updated version of the Strawberry Patch in Brood's Island Garden. The strawberries now grow back properly.
June 2003 |
An updated version of the Mushroom Patch in Brood's Island Garden. The mushrooms cannot be picked up, but grow back when eaten, this took a bit of sprite editing.
May 2003 |
This modified from the Cheese Vendor by
SteerPike. It is invisible to norns and they cannot
activate it. This means you can more easily control your food supplies. Be careful when
you place them as they become immobile. |
||
The cheese it produces is special "training cheese". Norns are more likely to eat it, and it improves their eating habits. Best of all, the vendor automatically removes all remaining cheese and replaces it with fresh cheese every 20 seconds - this means you will never run out! Perfect for wolfling runs. Another cob included
in the zip places 16 vendors in the most useful places after cleaning up any existing
ones. | |||
May 2003 |
Ever get tired of filling up
empty honey jars at the beehives? These honey pots are everlasting, never requiring
re-filling. A second cob included in the pack will replace all Normal Honey Pots with Everlasting ones. |
||
Normal Cheese & Honey Removers | May 2003 |
As I have created everlasting honey pots and trainer cheese, these two cobs remove the original types if you wish to do so.
Fixed Mushrooms | May 2003 |
This is from the Farm pack of food cobs, and it used the sprites for the apples instead of the mushrooms! This is just an updated version.
May 2003 |
Inspired by the coconuts from
Cyberlife, using the as yet unused sprites for the coconuts in food.spr. Uses sounds from
the original Coconuts cob by Cyberlife. |
||
The tree automatically grows fresh coconuts. Whole coconuts cannot be eaten, but when dropped a few times they smash so that the flesh inside can be consumed. update: I simplified the tree, removing the ability of coconuts to fall naturally and the ability for the tree to drop coconuts when shaken. This made it finally work as I wanted!
Muddy Swamp Carrots |
May 2003 |
A new strain of carrots that
grow in the swamp. Have edited sprites, looking darker and less colourful than their
land-bound cousins. They will replenish their numbers and keep their population at twenty. |
|
Darkling Cave Carrots |
May 2003 |
Another new kind of carrot. This slow growing and stunted species only grows underground. It grows slowly, and is as nourishing as a regular carrot, but does not taste quite as nice. Also has edited sprites to look scrawny and dark with pale leaves.
Big Carrot Patch v1.1 |
May 2003 |
Replaces my earlier
"Carrot Variation 2" cob, this new patch is in the same place, spreading from
near the house to the bridge. It now consists of good ol' normal carrots. This means they don't bounce, but are replaced when eaten. |
|
May 2003 |
These little carrots are very tasty, they are practically junk food! Although not as healthy as regular carrots, they are more nourishing than honey and grow around the beehives.
Lemony Fridge | May 2003 |
Another version of the fridge,
this one has lemons instead of honey pots and is positioned at the right end of the house,
next to the garden. Still crashes and I have no idea why, if yopu can help, let me know. |
|
May 2003 |
Come in various colours and
sizes, all contain starch 40 and -hunger 40, but each type has slightly different
effects on the norn that eats it: Big Yellow - sex drive 50, loneliness 10 Ikle Blue - adrenaline 10, wake up pill 20 Big Pale Green - boredom 11, sleeping pill 20 Ikle Dark Green - -crowded 40, -angry 40 The second patch is placed in a mulch bed beneath the incubator. |
||
Fill Hooch | April/May 2002 |
Fills all the hooch cups (green cups of alcohol) no matter where they are. Inspired by the honey pot filler cob.
Pear Tree 2 | April/May 2002 |
Based on the original Pear
Tree cob, but placed to the left of the temple. It has a new set of class numbers so an not to interfere with the original Pear Tree by Daniel Smallman. |
|
Grape Vine 2 | April/May 2002 |
A new and more
fertile grape vine in the garden, based on the original Grape Vine by Stefan Kuske *WARNING* Incompatible with Island Food |
|
- | Rooted Plants (Pack of eleven cobs) |
April/May 2002 |
I discovered that
most 3rd Party plant cobs are movable by the hand and this is very annoying. This pack of eleven modified plant cobs are firmly rooted to the ground as soon as you drop them. To move them you will need to use Darwin cheat or just remove them. Thanks go to the creators of these cobs: Markham Carroll, Helen (Frimlin), Matthew Hayes, Spirit, Dr§mile, D. Saar and especially to J. Martin. |
Unmovable Weeds and Herbs | April/May 2002 | Allows you to
inject new, unmovable extra weeds and herbs. These are my first ever cobs! |
